***IMPORTANT NOTE***EB is gradually phasing out PayPal for sellers and this change requires financial/personal info, which I will not provide.
"As of Feb 1, 2021, your ability to revise or relist existing listings or create new listings will be disabled". So if you are interested in any of my items, please keep this in mind. Once they completely sever ties with PPal, I will no longer be selling on EB.
What we have here is a collector owned First Day Cover for the Lost In Space tv show, which aired back in the mid-1960's. (I remember reading somewhere that there are only 5 of these made, but not sure if that is really the case). This is the #6 size, which measures
6 1/2“ x 3 5/8” and has been stored a #6 acid free FDC sleeve.
The full color cachet measures 2 3/8 " x 3 3/8 " and is from a well-known photo of the cast. From left to right are: Angela Cartwright as Penny Robinson, Mark Goddard as Major Don West, Marta Kristen as Judy Robinson, the B9 Robot, Jonathan Harris as Dr. Zachary Smith, June Lockhart as Dr. Maureen Robinson, Bill Mumy as Will Robinson, Guy Williams as Dr. John Robinson.
The postmark is Washington, DC 20066 and is dated Apr 18, 2008.
Below that says: "Lost in Space Debuted in 1965 Cast: Doctors John and Maureen Robinson, their children, Judy, Penny and Will, Major Don West, Dr. Zachary Smith and Robot."
This has the customary First Day of Issue cancellation and the stamp is the 42 cent American flag with the moon in the background. This also happens to be the "evening stamp" that raised so much controversy for having an extra white stripe!
This FDC is in overall in nice condition although there is what appears to be a crease just to the left of the stamp and measures a little bit under 3/4” long. There is also a wrinkle (don’t know what else to call it) up and to the left of the crease. The colors on this are crisp and bright and the envelope is a bight white. It has never been used so the unused gum strip is still intact.
For many years now, this has lived in a SMOKE FREE, pet free, mold free home away from moisture and light.
Note that all my photos have a "watermark" image for protection but obviously the item in this listing doesn’t have a "watermark" printed on it.
Thanks for looking and feel free to email any questions.
