You are viewing a rare US - based Singapore Airlines Airbus A340-500 "Leadership" Ultra Long Range 1/200 diecast model featuring four Rolls Royce Trent 553 turbofan engines. I purchased the JC Wings model from an estate in New Orleans in 2015. The model was stored but never displayed. The condition is "Mint" with highly detailed features. The outer box has some very slight shelf wear of no consequence. Please see my detailed photos.
The aircraft entered service with seven airlines initially including Air Canada, Emirates, Ethiad, and Thai. This airliner was delivered to Singapore Airlines on December 31, 2003. In February, 2003 it set a speed record as the "World's Longest Non-Stop Flight" from Singapore to Los Angeles in 19 hours. A second record was set barely four months later from Singapore to Newark, New Jersey in 18 hours and 50 minutes.
Considered a passenger favorite for comfort, safety and performance, the A340-500 completed its last flight with Singapore Airlines on November 23, 2013. This is a rare gem in diecast collectibles!
